Cape Town activities for kids

Cape Town activities for kids

For families with young children, the primary task of a holiday often centers around keeping children occupied. For those who choose to rent Clifton accommodation and are lucky enough to have Clifton 4th beach at their disposal, they are not likely to suffer the same fate as other parents. Clifton 4th beach offers endless opportunities for swimming, sand castle building and bat and ball games etc. But sometimes the sun can get too much and children can even become tired of the most sheltered beach in Cape Town.

Parents need not fear, Cape Town offers many indoor activities for children who have had too much sun, such as Bizzy Bodies, Cape Town's biggest indoor playing gym or Jimmy Jungles, an indoor adventure playground that offers supervised, secure facilities for kids. Creative kids will enjoy Artjamming, where they can spend an afternoon spraying, sponging or painting on a blank canvas or Clay Caf, in Hout Bay, where they can paint designs on ceramics and have them fired.

Older children might enjoy indoor-go-carting in Kenilworth or Laserquest in Claremont.

If they are ready for some fresh air again, younger children are often amused by a ride on the blue train, a miniature train that runs along the ocean at Mouille Point, where there are also many jungle gyms, slides and swings for them to play on. It is also just minutes away from accommodation in Clifton.

There are many Cape Town South Africa tourism opportunities for an educational afternoon, children are often amazed by the dinosaur models and whale well at the Iziko South African Museum and it is also air conditioned and offers a break from the summer heat.

Once parents have exhausted all activities, there is always Lil'dreys, which offers 1001 workshops for kids, which range from anything from painting, music, gardening, fairy wings, yoga and beading.
