While in Norfolk, Take a Boat Trip on the Broads

If you are staying in one of the manyNorfolk Hotels, you will be well placed to visit some of the county's best attractions.

The beaches are nearby and the choice there is extensive. There are also picturesque marinas and quays along the coast at places such as Blakeney or Brancaster Staithe, with interesting pubs and restaurants, and charming towns and villages such as Holt or BurnhamMarket.

Yet you do not have to venture too far inland before you arrive at one of the great attractions of the area - the world famous Norfolk Broads.

These have been attracting boating enthusiasts for decades, whether on a weekend break Norfolk or for week-long holidays.

The Broads are actually a man-made phenomenon having been excavated over the centuries. Massive channels were dug to extract the rich peat from the area and over the years these hollowed out channels gradually filled with water to create a beautiful environment. A natural habitat of trees and reeds grew up around them to turn the Norfolk Broads into the stunning attraction that it is today.

With a number of Norfolk luxury hotels nearby, they are a real magnet for people who want to enjoy the outdoor environment.

The Broads have widespread appeal: they are great for waterborne activities such as cruising around on a boat, fishing off the bank or even canoeing. If you go to Wroxham, which is one of the key towns on the Broads, there are numerous opportunities to hire a boat for a few hours or take a boat sightseeing tour around some of the picturesque places on the Broads.

But the network of waterways and Broads are also a fantastic haven for wildlife, especially birds.

In fact the rare Bittern, which is a symbol of the area, has been revived within the sanctity of the Norfolk Broads and if you are lucky, you'll hear its distinctive 'boom' call.

Most North Norfolk Hotels will have lots of information about the Broads and reception staff will be able to give you he advice you need for a wonderful day out on the water, or at least point you in the right direction.
