Singer Curvy 8763 Stitch Patterns

For a home sewing machine, this one has a truly tempting selection of utility and decorative stitches. While many machines in the under $300 price range offer many utility stitches and then a handful of satin stitches, the Curvy includes some of the more fancy decorative stitches.

Besides straight, zigzag, stretch and blind hem stitches there are a number of satin stitches and decorative stitches like Greek Key, Entredeux, Vine, Serpentine, Honeycomb, and Criss Cross. There are also two styles of one-step bartack buttonholes.

Stitch width and length are adjustable up to 7mm depending on the stitch selected. Stitches are selected by way of the five selection buttons on the front of the machine. The top thread tension has an "automatic" setting but is also adjustable as needed for your projects.

Singer Curvy 8763 Presser Feet

Five snap-on style presser feet are include: General Purpose, Zipper, Satin, Blindstitch, and the Buttonhole foot. A number of additional presser feet can be purchased separately. The presser foot lever has three settings. The down position is used during sewing. The regular up position is used when placing or removing fabric from under the presser foot. The extra high position makes it easier to slip thicker layers of material under the presser foot.

Singer Curvy 8763 Features

Singer's Drop and Sew bobbin system is really easy. All you need to do is load the bobbin, drop the bobbin in place, draw the thread through the side slot and the machine handles the rest. The automatic needle threader means you only need to guide the thread through the tension slots and down to the needle and the threader punches the thread through the eye for you.

The extension table removes to allow for free-arm sewing. Cuffs and pant legs can be slipped over the arm for completion or hemming. The Curvy is also capable of doing twin needle sewing although the twin needle must be purchased separately.

A darning plate is included to accommodate mending tasks. There is a work light over the work space, a built-in carrying handle, and a number of sewing accessories like extra bobbins, needles, spool caps, a screwdriver, and a seam ripper.

The control panel is easy to operate. Pictures of the built-in stitches are located on the front in rows of five each and a selection button to the right of each row cycles through the options. An LED light indicates which stitch has been selected. Just below that are the width and length buttons and a reverse stitch button is conveniently located above the needle arm.

The Singer Curvy 8763 stands out with its unique selection of stitches and brightly colored accents. It's a smooth operating sewing machine with some fun features.
