Our Miele Vacuum was a Family Investment
Our Miele Vacuum was a Family Investment

My wife and I are animal lovers. We have four dogs, three cats, and a bunny. We also have a 2-year-old son. We live in a small house, and we do our best to keep it as clean as possible. For too long, we relied on inexpensive, box-store-bought vacuums. We went through one or two every year for a few years until we realized we would need to shop for higher quality.

There are some good brands out there, and there is some interesting technology, but nothing seemed to compare to Miele vacuums (one good place to find information on Miele vacuums is http://www.witbeckvacuums.com/).

The first thing to know about Miele vacuums is that they are stylish beyond belief. The vacuums look like they belong on a runway somewhere. But that wasn't important to us when we went shopping. In fact, we were concerned that so much time was spent on making a Miele vacuum look good that efficiency was sacrificed. We needed more than a good-looking piece of equipment; in our house, balls of fur roll across the floor like tumbleweed blowin' in the wind.

Luckily for us, Miele vacuums are as much about quality as they are about good looks.

We bought a yellow one, Carina, a canister Miele vacuum . Some vacuum brands tout their ability to never lose suction, but the smart consumer knows that it's air flow that's important in a vacuum. Miele vacuums are all about the air flow. The Miele vacuum isn't an anomaly; it will lose air flow eventually. But air flow will slow down only after you have sucked up all the fur, all the dust, used it to clean your ceiling fans and your curtains, and used it to pick up grass clippings in your yard (I'm kidding about the grass clippings).

We bought Carina before we had our son. Now, we love our Miele vacuum even more because it cleans up after him. Our son loves it too. Maybe it's the way it looks, but he likes to sit on the canister and ride it around the house (while it's not running, of course). I can honestly say that our Miele vacuum, now five years old, is one of the best investments we have ever made; our family is better off because of this purchase.
