When someone starts an online business, they tend to think that they have an idea of what they are doing. In other words, they don't have a clue of what to expect. People keep telling them that they need a nice looking website, throw some affiliate programs on it, advertise at free classifieds pages, and watch the money roll in.
So, a few days go by. Then a few weeks go by. If they have made 20 or 30 dollars at that point they are doing well. But the magic is not happening.
One way of getting your business going is to find someone who is doing well, and follow what they do on a daily basis. But that is going to be tough. Most likely, you will not be able to follow everything they are doing. The internet is a big place..big enough to get lost in!
So what can I do to get started with a business online? Here are a few basic beginning points that everyone should be implementing.
START GETTING EDUCATED
Find someone online who is successful and do try to follow them. The reason is that you will stumble across what methods and techniques work for them. Some of these methods are very obvious. Try to make contact with them, or read the articles they write or the blogs they post. The people making money will be out there big time, and they will not be hard to find.
I also recommend picking up a copy of Magnetic Sponsoring. This inexpensive little eBook opened my eyes to a lot of things about me and potential customers. That book has been key in many things that I do with my business. Purchasing this item was one of the best decisions I have made in reference to internet marketing.
GET AN AUTORESPONDER
As you are out in the market promoting your business, you will want to develop a mailing list. In effect, a list of people who agree to receive email messages from you. This is your 24/7 sales tool.
Having an opt-in email list that you can send messages to will enhance your sales. Thus you need the auto responder to deliver that list any tips or messages that you will want them to get. An auto responder sends these messages automatically on a timed schedule definitely a work saving tool. Auto responders are not expensive you can get a good one for less than 20 dollars per month.
You can do this without having an auto responder. But the time and work involved if you dont have one will be massive. So an auto responder is just a natural beginning tool.
FIND A MENTOR
After you find someone who is very successful online, email them and ask them if they will work with you one on one if possible. If you cant do that, find someone who is steadily marketing and promoting their business so you can get an idea of what you have to do. Your mentor will be your coach and your best friend. You can be inquisitive, but make sure you follow every guideline they recommend to you.
When you finally step out and try to make money online using a proven method, be consistent with what you are doing. Most important of all, dont give up. Sometimes people seem to generate instant success, while others dont. Those who dont usually keep plugging away at it and it slams them like a wall of water. So get out there, do your marketing, be visible online, and dont ever be scared to ask questions. You will never be successful if you quit!
