The basic definition of parent involvement refers to the amount of time and participation a parent has in their child's schooling and life. At the start of life and schooling, parents are on hand constantly. They are very engaged in their child's life. They want to know everything going on at school, talking to the teachers and other parents and addressing any concerns. They always know exactly what their child is doing and where they are.But as a child grows, that parental involvement seems to fade for a lot of parents. Children become more independent and pull away from parents. In a lot of cases, the parents allow this independence and stop being so engaged in their lives. While teens do generally stop being influenced by their parents in time, the parent is still an important part of their life and need to stay involved as much as possible.Despite the fact that people have differing views on what parent involvement is, it is very clear that it is beneficial and important to a child. It benefits their education, it helps to form a well balanced child, and it provides them with a positive influence to model after as they grow. Being involved in your child's life needs to happen on all levels, in and outside of school, so your child has the best advantages possible to succeed in life.
