EPA Approved Disenfectant Kill Bugs As Bad As MRSA But Safe Enough to Leave on Your Childs Toys

Mothers of all ages will be delighted to know that the EPA recently approved an antimicrobial for the first time in decades. The unusual thing about this product is that it is effective in killing, bacteria, viruses, and a number of fungi, all while being completely odorless, non-flammable, non-corrosive, and non-toxic. While the products that were brought into the marketplace back in the 20th Century are somewhat effective as antimicrobials, and cleanersthey are very harsh and toxic.

The science behind IV-7 Ultimate Germ Defense is well-established and has been verified by third party testing. Its active ingredient has been registered for use by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and is the first new antimicrobial registered with the EPA in the past 30 years.

It has been known for centuries that silver has disinfecting properties. Silver was used as a germicide as long ago as Greek and Roman times. The active ingredient in IV-7 Ultimate Germ Defense is silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC), a patented, electrolytically-generated source of ionic silver which is stabilized in citric acid.

This formulation took almost a decade to develop and patent.

Unlike most commonly-used commercial or household antibacterial or cleaning products, it is colorless, odorless, non-flammable and non-corrosive. There are no fumes and it does not cause skin irritation.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency categorizes all antimicrobial products according to a toxicity scale from I to IV (I being most toxic and IV being the least.). Traditional disinfectants, which use active ingredients such as ethanol or ammonium chloride, fall into categories I and II. The SDC dilution used in IV-7 is in category IV.

Trojan Horse

IV-7 Ultimate Germ Defense attacks and kills germs from both inside and outside. Its method of germ defense is simple, yet extraordinarily effective. In this case, "the best defense is a good offense."

Microbes see the citric acid in the product as a food source it acts as a scientific "Trojan Horse." When they ingest it, the silver ion in the SDC ingredient enters the microbes. Once inside, the silver ion binds to the microbe's DNA, which blocks it from replicating itself and killing it. Meanwhile, the silver ion also is attracted to sulfur-containing thiol groups found in metabolic and structural proteins bound to the surface of the membrane of a microbe. The SDC destroys the structure of these proteins, which causes the organism to die.

Residual Power

Common antibacterial surface-cleaning products are alcohol-based and simply kill germs on surfaces at the moment they are applied. IV-7 Ultimate Germ Defense goes much farther: Once applied to a hard surface, it continues killing germs for at least 24 hours. This is a tremendous benefit for areas such as desks in schools and offices, tables, counters and other high traffic areas.

Lasting Power

Traditional silver-based disinfectants only kill germs for a short period of time and have short shelf lives. In contrast, IV-7 Ultimate Germ Defense has a shelf life of several years.
