Konark is a small town located in the Puri district of the state of Orissa. It is the most popular destination of Orissa where devotees come come from far and wide. Konark Sun Temple

It is one of the most beautiful World Heritage Sites in the world. Dating back to the 13th century, the temple is dedicated to Sun God. This temple is built in the form of a chariot which is dedicated to the Sun God. It has twelve pairs of intricately carved wheels pulled by seven horses. It is an architectural marvel of India with impressive dimensions, exquisite carvings, wonderful sculptures and flawless proportions. It was built by Raja Narsimhadeva of the Ganga Dynasty. The sculptures of the temple beautifully depict various aspects of life. From scenes of human love to the scenes of war, all are wonderfully depicted through sculptures. No wonder it deserves to be a World Heritage Site. The Konark Dance Festival and the Sun Festival are annually celebrated in the temple with great enthusiasm and joy.

Konark Beach

It is a picturesque beach which offers breathtaking sunset and sunrise views. Located at a distance of 3 km from the Sun Temple, the beach is a wonderful place to enjoy nature at its best. Another striking feature of the beach is that its water is considered holy. Apart from touristic importance, the beach also has religious significance. It is advisable not to swim at the beach. Its clean white sand and pleasing ambiance attract many a tourist.
