UK Holidays Becoming More Popular

UK Holidays Becoming More Popular

Foreign hotspots have always been ahead of British holidays as the weather can be almost guaranteed. Last year this saw a change as people began booking holidays in the UK with places such as Blackpool, Skegness and the countryside all being popular choices.

Holiday cottages were a popular choice among those booking their break in the UK. Self catering holidays are a great way to enjoy a holiday without being tied down to times for eating at hotels and guest houses. Some of the most sought after holiday homes were in the beautiful Lake District, thanks to the peace and quiet this part of the UK offers, along with some stunning scenery. If you're a pet owner then being able to take along your four legged friend is another plus of taking a break within the UK. Activity breaks and spa breaks also enrich your well deserved time away.

Torquay and Torbay followed closely according the statistics. These parts of the UK enjoy some of the best weather, harbour side cottages were the most popular when booking online and there are some superb cottages with excellent views of the harbour. The countryside was just as popular when it came to short weekend breaks. Thatched holiday cottages with their classic fireplaces and gardens were a popular choice for relaxing over the weekend.

Apartments, hotel and caravans were also a popular choice of accommodation on the coasts. The caravan holiday of today is nothing like many years ago; today caravans have all the mod cons of hotels and apartments and tourism figures showed that many people in the UK chose a caravan as their holiday accommodation by the sea.

Whether the recession played a part in people choosing to take holidays in the UK rather abroad is anyone's guess. Of course it could have been down to the fact that individuals have only just realised that the UK has so many stunning beautiful places to visit.
