Any family can be pulled apart by the exciting and varied activities of our busy world, so it is very important for parents to adopt good parenting skills so families can be held together by companionship and affection. The finest place to find lasting friends is at home, but where there is no economic necessity for the family to remain a unit, family life must be consciously held together with mutual interests. In spite of all the things which seem to be pulling each child away from home, the parents' efforts along with good parenting help to hold them together through interesting activities and affection will have amazing results. Children are eager to have pleasant relations with their parents. They want to be loyal to their own family members and to be proud of their home and family.
Having fun together is the surest way of wanting to belong together. The most important thing in life, if a child is to develop into a sound personality, is a sense of belonging. Nothing gives a greater sense of security than being able to laugh and play with one's parents. Family games, singing and making music together, reading together, putting on plays, taking trips, planning and giving parties, and talking and laughing together are active forms of fun which will be long remembered. Personal hobbies, such as painting, sculpturing, making model planes, working with stamps, puppets, or tools, or just collecting things all have added interest if they sometimes result in group shows or activities with the whole family.
