Spot-On Treatments for Scabies in Dogs

Spot-On Treatments for Scabies in Dogs

Dogs experience the same discomforting symptoms as humans when it comes to scabies. There are several medications available to treat scabies in dogs, however not all of them turn out to be effective for the animal. These medications include dips, which come with a lot of side effects and may perhaps worsen the condition in dogs. With some significant research, it has been proven that dog scabies could be treated successfully with some tropical treatments. These treatments are simple and would work well in eliminating the underlying scabies mites.

The spot-on treatments come in the form of tropical gels and need to be used one a month. These treatments come with better residual effects and hence would work well to eliminate the chances of a re-infestation. These spot-on medications need to be applied directly on the affected area, mostly on the dog's back, from where it is directly absorbed into the blood stream.

It has been concluded that these medications contain tropical solutions which are to be applied only once a month. Since the medication is directly absorbed into the blood stream, it also protects the dog against other diseases such as heart worms, fleas and ear mites. Apart from killing ticks and fleas, these medications would penetrate into the deeper layers of skin and eliminate scabies completely. Most dogs do not respond well to the traditional scabies medications used for humans, therefore it would be suggestive to use spot-on treatments for it. However, before using any medication, you must consult a vet in your area for proper guidance.
