Clapham Common Festival Season

Clapham common is a landmark of London, during the summer people flock here to sunbathe in their masses. It is a green haven in an otherwise concrete jungle, but for two months every year, it is also a festive playground.

The Southwest Four festival attracts the biggest crowd. A two-day festival full of the worlds best DJ's and dance groups. Annually thousands of young people flock to the common to enjoy the music and have a drink. This years line up sees dance legend Fatboy Slim take the stage as the headline act. Unfortunately tickets to both days have now sold out, however ticket exchange sites should have some left.

This year also sees the introduction of the Ben & Jerry's Sundae On The Common. Taking advantage of the warm weather, ice cream giants Ben & Jerry's have got together to offer an ice cream themed two-day festival. Bringing together chart topping live music from The Doves, Scouting For Girls and many more. As well as fairground attractions, petting zoo's and traditional English games. Although the festival is over, it will be back next year offering even more live music, games and of course, all the free Ben & Jerry's you can eat.

During the festival season the common also gets a dose of culture. The toast festival celebrates cultures from around the world. This year they hosted South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. The festival brings together traditional music dance and games from the countries and urges visitors to get involved. This year the features of the weekend were the Maori dance troupe, the African cuisine and the Australian aboriginal didgeridoo band.

The festival season at Clapham common attracts more than 25,000 visitors each year, so if you are planning to attend next year be sure to book very early, the festivals tend to sell out. Clapham common is the perfect area to hold such festivals, it is close to the city and has fantastic transport links.

Clapham has seen a boom in local population in recent years. Due to this, estate agents in Clapham have experienced a boom in rentals and sales. Although the housing market in Clapham is hot property at the minute the house prices are still relatively cheap compared to other parts of the city.

It would seem that Clapham is undergoing somewhat of a renaissance period, with the common festivals and the opening of new bespoke bars and restaurants Clapham is quickly becoming the suburb to live in outside of London.
