How To Find Your Way Through The Maze Of Property To Rent London

Say what you like about London (and people usually do) it has, at least, got an absolute stack of incredible places to live and work in it. Often youll find the most astonishing pied a terre or mews flat in the most unassuming looking location: or youll round the corner of what looks like a half deserted industrial waste land and be confronted with a development of reclaimed warehouse flats that even the trendiest home owner in the world would kill to live in. Property to rent London is full of these absolutely glorious finds. The trick, of course, is finding them: because if theres one thing London is for sure (apart from stacked with the good stuff), its a maze.

London is basically a collection of villages, all of which have morphed over centuries into this sprawling polyglot mass that the inhabitants of the United Kingdom call their capital. Understanding that is essential to understanding the character and nature of the place and that, in turn, is essential to understanding how to find the jewels in the often sloppy crown that London can present itself as. A really good London estate agent needs local knowledge coming out of his or her ears which is why, bizarrely, the smaller agencies (those property to rent London places that have two, or three branches across the whole city) are best placed to find the right properties for their clients.

How does that work? Its a simple question of size and volume versus attention to detail. In amongst all those sprawled out and squashed up villages that compose London, there are some particularly nice ones. These clearly have the highest concentration of desirable places to live. A smaller agency, with a more hands on approach, is able to foster good working relationships with landlords and letting estates in this selected areas: which means that they get the pick of the bunch. It also means that they can look for tailored property to rent London on behalf of their clients: so when someone comes in wanting, say a mews pad in Chelsea, they can look for it specifically for that person. A larger agency, which has a less personal relationship with the places it is renting, has neither the time nor the basis to do this kind of thing. End result: a big agency gets you a quick flat somewhere reasonable, while a small agency finds you the perfect place in almost as little time.

Given that living in London can be extremely tough (when you get it wrong) and monumentally good fun (when you get it right), it probably behoves the city dweller looking for new property to rent London to go to a smaller and more focused agency. That, after all, is the best way to make sense of any large amorphous mass. Go somewhere focused and knowledgeable and the whole maze starts to make a lot more sense. There are some marvellous places out there waiting for the perfect inhabitant. Find out which one is yours.
