How Safe Are Baby Beddings?

Your baby by instinct spends most of the time sleeping. That is very important to ensure that their rapid body development can go ahead smoothly. Your baby needs more sleep in clean and safe environment.

One way that this is ensured is by keeping the babys bedding very clean. Keeping it clean is quite easy because most of us know the importance of keeping our surroundings clean. There is another issue concerning baby bedding that also needs to be discussed. Before we get to that, lets discuss an unfortunate phenomenon.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome which is conveniently called SIDS is a condition that can be nightmarish to any parent. Imagine waking up one day to see your baby who was very healthy the previous night dead in the morning. That is what SIDS is all about. Inexplicably, infants can be found dead in their cribs. So what kill all these children?

That question remained a mystery for a long time. Though there may be other causes, the culprit that was identified to be killing the infants was their bed. Dont get it wrong the problem was not with dirty baby beds. In fact most of the cases involved very clean baby beddings. The problem was found in the material that was used to make the baby beds.
How Safe Are Baby Beddings?

In a research that was conducted by a group of scientists, it was found that the children were being killed by their own mattresses. The beddings which were made of materials containing phosphorous, arsenic and antimony were found to be responsible for the mysterious deaths. The chemicals in themselves were not causing the deaths. They needed help from somewhere. That place though is from the baby.

The scientists identified that body fluids like sweat and saliva from the baby contained a common fungus called Scopulariopsis brevicaulis. When these funguses consume the three gases, they produce three other nerve gases. The nerve gases, phosphine, arsine and stibine can all be very deadly to the infant. The study was further proven when some of the mattresses that were involved with the SIDS were tested. All the mattresses 200 of them from several companies- had the fungus, Scopulariopsis brevicaulis infected with them.

All the mattresses also tested positive for either one, two or all three nerve gases. That makes it a very dangerous issue. Many people have now questioned the presence of chemical in child product. You should be worried as well because some people who are only interested in profits are still selling these kinds of mattresses to unsuspecting parents. If that mattress ends up in your house, it could be your child that will be the next statistic.

Lets all help to ensure that baby products are free from chemicals. You can ensure this by buying your entire baby bedding materials from responsible retail shops. This way, the risk of buying some of these dangerous beddings can be minimized because these retailers ensure that products that they accept into their shops are of the highest quality.
