Attention Deficit Disorder Affects Both Children And Adults

Traits like difficulty to hold attention, experiencing emotional and involuntary impulses and hyperactivity are no strangers to those living with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). This disorder affects both children and adults and is characterized by inappropriate levels of behavior and the difficulties of being easily distracted.

Officially named Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), this condition causes an individual to experience restlessness and an inability at times to sit still. It can also cause involuntary impulses resulting in one to act without thinking and/or react too soon.

This denies them of the possible gratification of the task at hand. Lastly, the hyperactivity can keep one from staying focused on a given project and they may seem fidgety and apprehensive, making it difficult for them to complete it.

All of the symptoms above and the many more that go with ADD can disrupt anything from school to work and even life at home and in the community. Adults can feel stressed when dealing with this disorder and children can be challenged at home and in their school life.

It can be difficult to keep up with responsibilities and obligations as a grown up in life and at work and can make it challenging for children when dealing with school work, peers and family members.

This disorder can begin as an infant and continue on through adulthood touching all aspects of people's lives. If you or anyone you know is dealing with ADD, research on the disorder can help you cope. Books, videos and even audio tapes are good way for you to familiarize with the subject as well as find support.

Knowing more about what you are dealing with and the help that is available is great way to help improve the many challenges that come with ADD for those who have it as well as those around them.
