US Auto Industry-Detroit Fights Back

Yes,Detroit has amazed industry critics by fighting back,and getting on its feet much faster than expected.

A variety of marketing iniatives and the cash for bangers( or scrappage scheme) has enabled management within the auto industry to pull itself round,pick itself up and emerge fighting.

Leaner and fitter is the order of the day,as the market settles on the range and size of car require for today.Compacts,Imports,SUVs and PUs all feature strongly as the US balances demand with finance,performance with style and need with preference.

Economy now has to be a feature in any list of motoring requirements (for most of us,anyway)but,there is still a need for comfortand cruiseability for the rural dweller.

Ford and Chrysler appear to have got their respective houses in order much quicker than the pundits forecast.

Toyota saw its market share fall in March sales figures,as its share price and credit rating have now all dipped.

Ford F range held its usual top spot with 42,000 units,followed by Toyota,36,000 sales,with the Chevrolet Silverado coming 3rd with 30,000 sales.

Biggest surprise was 8th placed Ford Fusion on 20,000 sales,a massive 80% up on year to date sales in 2009.
