The Christmas Rush for Online Shopping: known as Cyber Monday - What day will it be in 2010?

The past few years has seen an ongoing climb in the volume of internet traffic concentrated on just a single day of the year for online shopping. Many peopel who own shopping websites will see a rise in traffic from about November 1st, internet traffic for online shopping really starts to climb up but normally, most years there is one main short few hours in the year which it all comes to a high point - this year, that day that is expected to be on Monday 6th December 2010 - also known as "cyber monday"

The Christmas Rush for Online Shopping: known as Cyber Monday - What day will it be in 2010?

Having looked closesly at web traffic information from other very major shopping comparison sites, the overall statistics and trends of traffic has been quite revealing as it has clearly shown the generally peaks and throughs throughout the calendar year - what we normall observe is a very strong pattern for January, with numbers being as strong as all of December and sometime beating December but never is there one day which surpasses the cyber Monday stats.

In February, internet traffic really starts to take a big drop - usually atleast 35% lower than December numbers and as much as half of January figures. April is usually a much slower month too thenit climbs back up to stabilise for May and stays pretty much level for the rest of the year with a few throughs during seasonal holidays and bank holidays. The British General Election in May had a very bad effect on traffic so 2010 has some building up to do in general.

Traffic starts to climb in September with October coming back to good levels, as said above, 1st November starts to see the first real signs of the Christmas shopping period. In the 2010 Christmas shopping season, we expect it to be even stronger as there are two major factors this year: 1) There are more retailers are pushing their online strategy and also using social media to get more users and 2) The websites that promote products and discount price information on cheap electricals, cheap laptops and voucher codes like HomeApplianceOffers.co.uk are set to see a bumper increase in consumers hunting down the best deal. What a lot of consumers are starting to realise is that the main retailers do not always put the best deal on their own sites - instead preferring to get extra traffic by letting affiliate sites offer goods at just a few % less than the deals on the main site. This is especially true with voucher codes.
