Some holiday party ideas using these decor colors as part of your theme are apple green linen with red napkins tied with gold rope and clear glass votive holders tied with either a red ribbon or gold rope.
On a budget? Use Christmas tree bulbs, pine cones, winter fruit such as pomegranates and apples or garland in tall glass cylinder vases instead of flowers. You can also use those red and gold colored candles you bought after Christmas last year and add some colored garland in a glass hurricane vase for table centerpieces as well.
Hosting an open house cocktail holiday party? Create small floral centerpieces with easy-to-find flowers such as dahlias and roses and for a twist, use tall grass and other greens instead of the traditional holly, ivy or cypress.
Keep your appetizers for parties around the holiday season easy as well. Make your appetizers healthy and hearty by creating anti-pasta stations. There are a host of easy-to-make appetizers that you can use for these stations including fresh or grilled vegetables, various selections of cheese, dried fruits, cured meats, crackers and small toasts. Since so many people are traveling from one holiday party to another, try serving fruit kabobs to keep it light and nutritious.
Some other holiday party ideas to help cut costs are hosting a dessert buffet complete with small cookies, cakes and fruit cups. Make available hot fudge and butterscotch sauces accompanied by marshmallows, pretzels and other fun food items for dipping and create a serve yourself fondue station.
