Helping Kids To Pack For A Camping Trip

Kids can pack too!

Allowing your kids to be a part of the planning for a camping trip will make it more exciting for them. Helping them to learn to pack will be teaching them organization and emotional skills.

Write up a list of items that he can pack in his suit case and allow some room on that list for items he may think are must haves. Don't spoil his fun by taking out all 50 matchbox cars. When he goes to sleep, thin out the items to a reasonable amount. Kids also get excited if they can help write out the list. So, sit down at the table and ask him what he thinks you should take when you go camping.

You might be surprised at what he may think he needs. My son packs like I do. He thinks of everything we need on a daily basis and that is what he wants to stuff in our suitcase. Just make sure you double check his bag before you leave. Obviously it is important that the socks and undies made it in the bag. Don't get so caught up in making everything perfect that you lose sight of the purpose of your camping trip.

This is going to be one of the most memorable experiences that you and your children will do. Let him be a part of the planning and packing to. When you get to your camp site, let him unpack his things and help set up to. Don't forget! Have fun!
