The two main shopping areas in Braintree are George Yard Shopping Centre, just off the main High Street, and out of town Freeport Shopping Village. Both are perfect for your Christmas shopping needs and will be beautifully decorated again this year for the people of Braintree to enjoy.

George Yard Centre, Braintree: Located just off the main high street, George Yard is a pedestrianised shopping centre, with toilets, bike racks, shop mobility, and regular special events held in its impressive central bandstand.

George Yard also has its own multi-storey car park with 715 spaces, located conveniently adjacent to the centre.

Freeport Shopping Village, Braintree: Located a mile outside of Braintree town centre, Freeport is mainly a designer shopping outlet, with over 85 stores.

These include Austin Reed, Cadbury, Clarks, Cotton Traders, Clarks, Gap Outlet, Marks & Spencer Outlet, Next Clearance, Past Times, Ted Baker, The Christmas Shop, Tommy Hilfiger, and many more.

Freeport has excellent travel links being located adjacent to the A120, plus regular bus services from Braintree town centre and even its own railway station. In addition, there are also 1,500 car parking spaces, all of which are free.

Freeport Braintree will be open for Late Night Christmas Shopping from Monday 6th to Thursday 23rd December, Monday to Friday, until 8pm.

Braintree Market: A market has been held in Braintree since 1199 when King John granted the town a charter for it to be held weekly. Held on Wednesday and Saturday in Bank Street, High Street, New Street, Great Square & MarketPlace, the Braintree market has around 40 stalls and is always a popular event with the locals.
