Waiting for an Increase in Appetite to Eat

Waiting for an Increase in Appetite to Eat

By waiting until you're actually hungry enough to really want to eat, what you are doing is training yourself to eat food for perhaps its main purposes; energy and relieving the appetite. You might've heard that during certain days particular people hardly ate at all for the sake of taste. While good taste is certainly something you may acknowledge, try not to make it a primary reason to eat in general. This may very well help decrease the overall likelihood of overeating.

By eating mainly to help relieve the appetite, you may even find yourself not having certain food cravings because of how used to this you'd be. Perhaps the main cause of obesity in general is people eating for the sake of pleasure, or for boredom relief. On the other hand, it could be both. Think about WHY you might overeat, if that's what you've done recently, and really evaluate the reason for doing it to the point you might find some kind of replacement for it. Perhaps you want to partake in a particular sort of hobby, or area of interest you haven't tried recently. Maybe there's something which used to interest you authentically which you ended up giving up, and perhaps it's a good idea to try to pick up where you left off.

When trying to rid yourself of a possible unhealthy pattern of eating, it's a good idea to try to do so gradually. The reason is because if you go "cold turkey", so to put it, you might have big cravings to significantly have to overcome, and you might just find it overall easier to get used to breaking away from the pattern.

If you wait until you're authentically hungry enough to really eat, there's something else this can do as well; it can possibly decrease the overall likelihood of overeating. By reliving your appetite, you might find yourself spontaneously satisfied enough with not being very hungry. This very relief might be enough for you to appreciate eating for its main purpose. So you might not even want to eat more for the sake of taste.

Remember to partake in or more hobbies that are of authentic interest to you, so you'll be less likely to want to eat primarily for the sake of taste. You might even end up finding having to eat as an interruption to what else you're up to in life!
