The interiors of the monument were once adorned with stunning precious and semi-precious stones. Beautiful inlay work of floral designs and calligraphy can be seen here. The main dome of the monument towers to a height of 80 feet and under it lies the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal. The monument was made on the principles of self-replicating geometry and a symmetry of architectural elements.
