Tonneau Covers For Pickup Trucks -- Tips

Pickup truck covers need not cost a big price to offer real value. Soft covers often represent real value at a very moderate price tag. Then there are some ways the soft tonneaus actually work better even though they cost so little. Soft covers offer the following advantages over some of the "better" options on tonneau covers for pickup trucks. They weigh just a little, making for easier installation and maybe better fuel mileage. A lighter cover simply means less weight to haul around.

Indeed some of the lower cost covers set you back so little that they may seem to cheap to be any good at all. Some of the soft covers are a bit higher in price but the majority are where you should look for a really inexpensive cover option. Soft cover models of several brands cost half or less of what typical hard tonneau covers will cost. That means you get a lot for a little especially as compared to the most expensive retractable or tilt lids.

Another very popular option is the race look you get with the tilt hard tonneau. Gaylord and Undercover are worth a look. One makes a fiberglass tonneau cover and the other provides a tilt forward cover of lighter plastic that weighs only about 60 pounds for a full size version. The tilting lids provide full bed access and turn a pickup bed into a trunk-like box. Look out though, taller cargo prevents closing the cover.

A tri-fold cover offers several advantages as a compromise between much more expensive covers and the least costly options. Realize that tilting covers, either as plastic or fiberglass, limit the height of cargo that can fit under the closed lid. That can be a real nuisance. On the other hand, the folder covers move out of the way easily to fit taller cargo in place of any height or size. That makes for a very secure and useful cover at a price much less than a retractable cover for example and not far more than a soft cover...

Picking a single lid from all the options is tough since there are so many choices. It all boils down to how you use your truck and what you want to spend and then the look you seek. If money is an option, that is a quick way to narrow down the options. That's so because the range of prices for the different styles is quite large. Soft covers cover the lower cost covers, but then some hard covers offer a lot of value too.

The overriding advantage of soft pickup truck bed covers is the lower price compared to other styles. Other benefits include easy bed access, easy installation, ability to handle high cargo as well as the superior sealing. A soft cover works well to protect cargo and protect the truck bed all at a quite low price tag. Hard covers offer superior protection but at a higher price. The hard cover designs include folding tonneaus, tilting lids and retractable covers as well.
