The entire area is great for shopping and entertainment. Friday nights are usually dedicated to Latin dances, so if you are into this kind of thing you should not miss on the opportunity to pay a visit to the area while you are visiting the city.

You can travel out of Brisbane and head to the Gold Coast. Although it is a place dedicated to rich clientele, the place is accessible to anyone that wants to come here. Just get behind the wheel and take a trip out to the Gold Coast which is within one hour of driving from Brisbane.

If you want to stay inside the city you can always take a walk to the Botanic Gardens which are very beautiful and widely appreciated by tourists and locals alike. Other recreational areas include the Forest Parkand the Portside Wharf.

A special place to visit while in Brisbane is the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, which was opened in 1927. This is the first reservation of koalas ever to be founded and it is open for visiting; here you can watch the cute animals going about their daily business.

If you are more into fishing or boating you can travel to Moreton Bay. Also, bicycling is a very popular activity on the city pathways.
