Spend Pleasant And Quiet Afternoons In Paris

Paris is a city which seems romantic not only at nights but even the afternoons in Paris show a unique temperament. If you can afford then take out a day from your schedule when you would not go anywhere and do nothing. If reading is your passion then find a spot where you can just be yourself. Then spend your afternoon reading your favourite author. Here are a few places that are the best to spend a quiet time in Paris.

The China House

Though Paris does not have many number of Starbucks shops as they have them in America, but there are many other social venues in Paris where you would love to spend a couple of hours during afternoons. The China House (La Maison de la Chine) situated at 76 rue Bonaparte is one such place to pass time reading a book and sipping a cup of coffee or tea. Open from 3:00 to 7:00 (Monday to Saturday) the tea house gives you opportunity to taste some of the finest traditional Chinese teas like Longjing, Shuixian and Tieguanyin along with cream cookies.

Besides tea or coffee, if you wish to enjoy a lunch at that place then head towards Shanghai Caf that offers a mix of Chinese and Thai cuisines and is open between 12:30 and 2:30 pm.

Les Jardins du Luxembourg

Extended across a large section of the city, the Luxembourg Gardens can be called the Parisian version of Londons Hyde Park and New York Citys Central Park. To have a better understanding of this place, you can divide it into sections.

With several swings, a puppet theatre and a few tennis courts, there is one section here especially done for children. One of the sides of this garden shares wall with the French Senate House that features a water basin to float model sailboats, etc.

The garden also borders the Rue dAssas with many shady trees around. Several narrow alleys lined with metal chairs add character to this place. The area is mostly visited by students. Visit the place during an afternoon and you will hardly find an empty seat. If lucky then find a place to sit and enjoy reading! Even a romantic afternoon stroll is a good idea to spend time.

Place des Vosges

Best known for its art galleries, Place des Vosges is settled amidst four rows of 17th century mansions. The galleries here showcase the artworks of a more modern breed. However, this place is also for a beautiful miniature park which is a peaceful place to spend some quality time amidst mid-size trees lined around the park.

Not only this, you can also enjoy some classical and jazz formations which are played under the nearby arcades during summers.

Apart from the above mentioned quiet places, there are plenty other spots too where you can spend your precious time doing just nothing. Just walk an extra mile and you find beautiful places away from the hustle-bustle of Paris city life!
