How to Not Misquote Auto Insurance

When getting auto insurance quotes it is important to remember that the price that consumers are given is based upon the information begin provided to them. It is important that when getting quotes apples are being compared to apples. Many times consumers will get insurance quotes from many companies and then choose to go with the company that has the most competitive rate for the information that they had provided only to find out that the information that they supplied the carrier for their quote was not accurate.

In these types of situations many times the consumer will be shorting themselves on savings. An example of this would be if a client requested and insurance quote from 3 companies and stated that they did not have any violations within the last 3 years or major violations within the last 10 years. They would then move forward with the purchase with the insurance carrier only to find out that the ticket that they have is only 2 years old and will still be a rating factor on the insurance policy. The premium will adjust according and the consumer at that point purchases the policy with the revised premium given by rating the newly found violation.

In this type of situation the customer had requested quoted from 3 companies with a clean driving record but only received a quote from 1 company rating a moving violation. Many consumers are under the impression that if they receive a the most competitive quote from an insurance company that that specific insurance company would offer them the best rate in any given situation. This is not the case. Rates vary from company to company for all drivers. Any time that a consumers situation changes they should check to see if they are getting the most competitive rate.

In order to not get the incorrect quote on insurance it is important to provide accurate information for the policy to be rated. Without accurate information being given to the insurance companies the quotes will not be accurate. The consumer places themselves in a position that the can start over getting quote or hope that they are getting the best rate when they supply the insurance companies with information that is inaccurate.
