What Should A Certified Pmp Look For When Pursuing Online Pdus?

What should a certified PMP look for when pursuing online PDUs? A good course description is one of the basics. Every PDU online should have good source material. An example of a good course description and objectives is as follows:

Many organizations consider time management the most important constraint or goal in managing a project. Operational managers tend to make project management synonymous to time management. Often you will see a functional or operational manager appear with a schedule of tasks with a list of completion dates and call it project management. While it is noble to ensure the efficient time management of projects, a list of things to do is not project management. There is more involved in time management when it comes to project management. Many perfunctory steps and inputs enable a project manager to define, estimate, develop and control activities and schedules. This course endeavors to impart to the learner the methodology necessary to effectively time manage projects. The goal of this course is to teach the key concepts in defining activities, sequencing activities, estimating resources and estimating activity duration. Furthermore, the course will teach how to develop and control schedules for a project according to the methodologies defined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

This course will present the concept of project time management over the course modules. Each module contains a lesson on two major concepts related to project time management, a module summary, review questions and two case studies applying the concepts taught in the module. In addition to the modules, there are resources in the appendix section of the book that provide answers to the module review questions, a final exam and a glossary of terms related to the course study.

Upon completion of this course, the learner will have an in-depth understanding of the following six project time management processes:

-Define Activities

-Sequence Activities

-Estimate Activity Resources

-Estimate Activity Durations

-Develop Schedule

-Control Schedule

When the student completes the module review questions, or takes the final exam at the end of this course, they should strive to achieve at least 80 percent. A PDU online is the same as an hour of structured learning. This way the student can be confident in possessing the knowledge necessary to implement successfully what they have learned into their daily project management routine.

This course will list the inputs, tools, techniques and the resulting outputs in each process area. The student will earn online PDUs by completing this course. At times, a review some of these prerequisite concepts may be necessary, but in depth discussions on these matters are out of the scope of this course.
