The Portland Waterfront City Guide

Are you planning to stay in one of the downtown Portland Oregon hotels? While selecting hotels in downtown Portland, make sure you are focusing on ones that are located near the Downtown Waterfront. This area is a popular area for both tourists and locals.

The Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront is one of the downtown Portland hotels in the Waterfront neighborhood. It is a hotel in downtown Portland Oregon within walking distance of the Waterfront. While staying at the hotel make sure to bring your walking shoes to enjoy the sites and sounds of the Waterfront.

The Tom McCall Waterfront Park Waterfront Park is located along the west bank of the Willamette River. The park is ideal for strolling and biking. During the warmer months, crowds gather for concerts, benefits and festivals. The most popular festival is the Rose Festival in June.

In the summer, visitors to the park can cool off in the summer heat at the Salmon Street Springs. The Spring starts rather slowly in the morning, with just a few spurts. As the day builds and the people begin to congregateeating their lunch and walking and biking around itthe fountain's water force increases in intensity.

You can also stroll across the world's oldest operating lift bridge-the Hawthorne bridge for a walk on the Eastbank Esplanade. It is merely 53 feet above the water. While taking a trip across the span, cross your fingers that a ship will pass below.

The Waterfront is a popular spot for families. There is a children's Story Garden on the south side of the Burnside Bridge. The area that stretches from Riverplace Hotel to the Steel Bridge is an excellent place for children to watch ships.
