Businesses Take Off In Portlands Waterfront District

Portlands Downtown Waterfront District is experiencing a development boom. The South Waterfronts expansion is part of the Portland Development Commission's North Macadam Urban Renewal District plan. In early 2004, the first phase called River Blocks" development began. This included the construction of residential condominiums and medical research towers. As of August 2009, seven towers have been completed in the district and two buildings are still currently under construction. A park between the Riva on the Park and the Oregon Health and Sciences University campus has just been completed.
