subject: Effects Of Global Recession In The Call Center Industry Of The Philippines [print this page]

The call center industry of the Philippines started not as a provider of Live Answering Service to businesses, but as a provider of email response and managing services. The industry, however, had shifted when a number of third-party companies and agencies had started to offer call center services to their clients along with email management.

Eventually, the call center industry had started, along with the continuous growth of call center companies and agencies in the Philippines. It was until recently that the call center industry of the Philippines were recognized as the largest provider of call center services in the global market, placing the Philippines as the call center capital of the world.

However, the call center industry was not always as successful as it is today. The industry had also faced a major downturn in the past when global recession had hit the world, affecting thousands of call center companies and agencies in the Philippines.

Effects of Global Recession

What made the call center industry successful is not only because of its rapid expansion in the Philippine market, or its rapidly growing collection of call center services, such as their Business Answering Service like Order taking services, it was also because of the number of foreign investors that had outsourced their call center services in the Philippines or started their own call center businesses in the Philippines.

This rapid growth of foreign investors prompted the growth of the call center industry in the global market, which had eventually placed the Philippines as the second largest provider of call center services in the global market next to India.

Eventually, majority of the industrys revenue are now coming from its foreign investors, mostly from the US. When global recession had hit the global market, the BPO industry of the world had significantly dropped due to a number of foreign investors retracting their investments. One of the many industries that were highly affected was then call center industry, such as the call center industry of the Philippines.

During Global Recession

During global recession, many call center companies and agencies in the Philippines have closed down due to the fact that demand cannot accommodate the number of call center companies and agencies in the Philippines, particularly when most of their foreign investors had withdrawn their investments.

Call Center Industry Today

Today, the call center industry had significantly risen in the global market. When global recession had steadily receded, the number of foreign investors had started to grow again. And because of the success of the call center industry in providing the best call center services in the global market, the Philippines was eventually placed as the leading provider for professional call center services in the world.
