Parents are the primary teachers of kidsParents are the primary teachers of kids. It is their duty to make sure that the kids will grow and become adults with sense of responsibility and high moral standards. Because parenting is not an easy task, a lot of styles and techniques of child rearing has been developed over time. One of these techniques is permissive parenting.

However, this type of child-raising technique has been very controversial and been criticized by many. Read along and find out why permissive parenting is not a good style to apply in raising kids.

Indulgent parenting or permissive parenting is a specific style of raising kids where parents dont really give demands to their children. Parents allot time to bond with their kids but they never punish or reprimand the children if they do something wrong. This type of parenting will teach the kids to be more responsible with their actions, thus, they are given too much freedom to choose. Nonetheless, this will also make the child grow spoiled.

In this type of parenting, the children are allowed to make their own choice. Parents give all their love and attention to their children and they do not even make any moves in correcting their bad behavior. Parents applying this type of parenting style believe that kids should be allowed to make decisions on their own and parents should support whatever they decide on.

The primary disadvantage of applying such parenting style is that kids will have greater risks of growing up as spoiled brats because the parents dont punish them for any wrong doings. As kids, they still cannot distinguish what is right from wrong and such style of parenting doesnt teach them the difference between the two. Kids growing in this type of parenting may behave improperly and would be harsh if they will not have what they want. When these kids turn young adults, they are at high risks of getting involved in vices and other anti-social doings.

Permissive parenting is not totally negative. It can work and fits well for those kids who are introvert and shy for this will give them space to grow and develop their confidence in terms of decision making. However, such parenting style should never be used with kids who are head-strong for this may cause them to become spoiled brats.

These are the things about permissive parenting. Hopefully, this was able to guide you on what type of parenting style you should use in raising your kids. Remember that too much of something is bad. Thus, it is not totally good to allow kids to decide alone at a very young age. As parents, it is your duty to let them be aware about life and the world around them including the concept about right and wrong.
