Christmas Is Around The Corner

Now that the days are shorter and the nights are drawing in, our thoughts have turned to Christmas and festive menus and brochures are popping up wherever you look. In my home county, most Norfolk restaurants have got their thinking caps on and come up with the usual array of festive fare - turkey and all the trimmings, Christmas pudding, mince pies, Yule log and so forth.I'm not complaining, though, as Christmas is one of my favourite times of year and it's a great excuse to visit Norfolk pubs and restaurants for a night out with family and friends. Indeed, many North Norfolk hotels specialise in festive menus and events and there are plenty of places to enjoy the festive season in this area. Indeed, some of the Norfolk Boutique Hotels offer the best Christmas options, with Christmas packages including accommodation, trips to events such as the world-famous Thursford Christmas Spectacular, and well thought out extras such as mulled wine on arrival or a special hamper to take away. Some places even offer a Champagne Christmas Breakfast, which is a nice touch if you're the kind who can pace yourself throughout the day - overdo it, though, and you might not make it through to lunch! There are plenty of things to see and do in this region, too - in the north of the county the Holt Christmas Lights Switch-On is always well worth a visit, with a host of festive stalls selling food, drink and toys, plus a countdown to the Christmas lights watched by hundreds of people.Meanwhile, in Norwich the Christmas Lights Switch-On night is bigger still, with a huge celebration on Millennium Plain outside The Forum with music, a massive Christmas tree and spectacular fireworks when it gets dark. Most of the other Norfolk villages also hold Christmas celebrations in one form or another and in Fakenham there's also a well-known Christmas tree festival which gets bigger every year. So if you're looking for somewhere to go this Christmas, I can thoroughly recommend Norfolk and its many fabulous festive events.
