At the re-created Jamestown Settlement, historical interpreters preserve supplies for winter. They learn that Christmas was a solemn time in the Colonies in contrast to England. Many towns designated a Lord of Misrule. In present day Jamestown, this "grand captain of all mischief" teases settlers and visitors.
