The formal name is AAdavantage Frequent Flyer Mileage Program. I am a true believer. I have been a member for over twenty years. My five year old is a member.

Simply put - the American Airlines Advantage program is a travel rewards (awards) program.
Does it work ?
Yes, it works. However, it is not enough to just "sign" up. Take the time to learn how it works and how to leverage the program. You will find a continual stream of vacation deals and opportunities to build your rewards account.

We have a wide range of vacation packages and they can all be purchased with AAdvantage miles! Choose from over 10,000 hotels and resorts in more than 320 cities around the world.
Lots of good destinations and a great source of family vacation ideas.
Over the years the program has changed, I have earned award points for talking on the phone, going out for dinner, staying at hotels and of course flying.
They just sent me an email reminding about miles expiring, they also gave me some options on how to keep them, use them and grow them. They be put to good use, I'll let you know where.
Savvy travelers should use multiple resources. This is one that I expect to have in my tool box for years to come. Participating in a rewards program of course can be beneficial. Like most things, conduct you due diligence and see if it can work for you.
