Insect Bites In Summer

Insect Bites In Summer

Just like us, insects like summertime, and like to bite us during meals, naps or at night. If you don't want their noise or their bites to spoil your holiday, make sure you do everything to prevent them and take your emergency kit with you.

While most insect bites are mild, some can cause reactions more or less strong. People with allergies must be particularly cautious, and we must also learn to react quickly when the bites are numerous and when they are in the throat area. In case of edema, respiratory problems or fever, you should make your way towards emergencies. But fortunately, these accidents are rare and for most of us, a few precautions are enough to better withstand these enemies of the summer.

Beware of mosquitoes!
Insect Bites In Summer

Mosquitoes bites are really upsetting, and if you don't want them to compromise your dinner on the terrace, plan citronella candles, basil or other herbs that keep them at a safe distance.

To avoid bites, put repellent lotion and plan tailored outfits: pants tight at the ankles, T-shirts or long sleeve shirts. Then, forget muslins and other light cotton veils, that these insects pierce without any difficulty. If you are in a country where malaria is prevalent, increased vigilance and, in addition to your anti-malaria medication, plan a maximum protection. If there are no screens on windows and doors, keep them closed at sunset and install a net around the bed.

If you are in the United States or Europe, where mosquitoes are less dangerous, but just as irritating and annoying, do not turn on the light inside the house if the windows are open. If you have an insect bite, an anti-inflammatory soothing cream will soothe irritation, alleviate itching and prevent scratching all night.

A very good means of preventing insect bites is using essential oils. Aromatherapy has become very popular ultimately and for good reason. To repel mosquitoes, just put a few drops of citronella essential oil on your skin and on the surrounding furniture or on your bedding. Mosquitoes will avoid it and you'll have a peaceful night.

Bees, wasps, hornets and ticks...

Bees and wasps foraging on flowers and fruits, especially appreciate the summer tables, picnics and snacks outdoors. The perfumes, which contain flavors of flowers and plants, as well as jams, compotes, and other sweets particularly excite them. And this is why they bite, because they think it is food for them. But these foods do not not attract hornets, which feed exclusively on insects.

We should be wary of ticks that can cause high fever, accompanied by aches. Like the chiggers, ticks are fond of bushes, shrubs and herbs. To protect ourselves it is better to cover the lower legs ... In case of sting, remove the tick completely, disinfect the wound and go see a doctor in case of fever. Very irritating, the chiggers cause red patches that nestle in the folds of the limbs, groin, knees, elbows etc... To soothe the irritation, apply a cream containing steroids and take antihistamines for a few days.
