It's Not too Late to get Beach Bod Ready!

It's time to hit the beach and show off that fit beach bod! Haven't had time to hit the gym? Here are some summertime tips to lose weight, and get fit to have fun in the sun!

Yummy Summertime Foods to Keep You Fit and Healthy

While sitting by the pool or on the beach, snack on water based fruits like watermelon, grapes, and cantaloupe. These are nice sweet foods that will not only satisfy your thirst and hunger, but they are great for your skin!

Grilling is one of the healthiest ways to cook, but next time you have the grill out skip on the traditional hamburgers and hotdogs. Instead grill up some veggies, and meats like salmon or tilapia. Fish are stacked with protein and contain the least amount of fat than any other type of meat.

In the summertime heat it's required to stay hydrated; however drinks like sweetened teas, iced coffees, soda, and smoothies are filled with sugar and calories. Try drinking sparkling water with lemon and just a splash of pomegranate or cranberry juice. Or for a more relaxing summertime drink white wine spritzers are a tasty and low-calorie alternative to any frozen mixed cocktail.

Get in Shape in the Sun

Now that you know what foods to eat it's time to get down a healthy workout routine. The best thing about getting fit in the summer is that your exercise choices are endless!

If you're not a traditional gym goer try walking, jogging, or running. Engaging in outdoor sports like tennis, volleyball, and swimming are also great ways to shed the extra pounds, get your heart pumping, and enjoy the nice, warm summer weather.

If your problem is scheduling time to get in a workout than don't worry, because just doing simple chores like yard work can just as easily help you lose weight. Or just go visit your local video store and pick up an aerobics video. These videos are great because you can start and stop them whenever you like, unlike a class where you have to work out at the instructors pace, and can easily get lost.

Remember it's all about being healthy, so pace yourself and do not jump into an intense workout routine if you are just starting out.
