How do know you made the right decision, and what is really the right decision?
Everyone of us confronts life with its vicissitudes. Nothing is certain and life is constantly changing, full of surprises, full of good and evil and driving instincts. Everyone of us confronts the world where we have to live and die. Everyone of us is forced to age. Our life-span is full with problems that require solving.
We have to deal with everything, our existence, our own body, food, mind, psychological drives and spiritual living. Man is a complex human structure full of needs, whether basic ones like physical needs, security, social ones, self-esteem or self-actualization, or other needs prompting us to think, feel and act in certain ways and behave in certain manners.
Our mind faces a problem and has to provide answers. This is what all education and knowledge are all about. Up to the highest level of learning we learn how to resolve a problem. In other words we are all oriented towards problem solving, in order to survive and to get to know for knowledge's sake, for our curiosity for knowing is a natural impulse that is insatiable.
Whether or not to make the right decision and avoid the wrong one is the art of living. It all depends on what goals you make for yourself. If your goals in life is to watch a football match and applaud for your favorite teal, then have a beer with your friends, then it is easy, do it. But where does this lead you?
You are limited to your football and your beer. If your goal in life is to get married and buy a house and a car, then do it, if you can, but then you are limited to your family, to your house and to your car. If your goal is to make a fortune, no matter how and are lucky to do it, then you are limited to your money and what money can buy.
But in reality, our life is not limited to these things only. We come from one door and we leave from another, having to be what we are in our form, shape, color, height and weight, having mind on our shoulders.
We all have to confront a universe in which we must live. WE all have a life-span, already limited to certain period of time. We all have to confront our selves and others and live within our environment. We all have to age and then must die, in one way or the other. Our decisions then take a different directionality and are not limited only to football and beer, to a house, family or a house, and not limited to be rich and powerful.
Our decisions must be take in accordance with our purpose of life. Our purpose of life is discovering the reason of our being through considering the universe, our presence within it and our position with it.
Our purpose of life is deduced from our confrontation with the universe and figuring out who has created it and put it together, hold it together. The origin of our own being and the power that put us here. Such questions need time and reflection. They are not impossible to answer but everyone makes his convictions and provides himself with his own answers. It is according to man's own convictions that we make our decisions in life. If your life is dependant on your football match then decide your life accordingly.
But life is not a match of football but has a an end that terminates the match and it is according to this very end that we make our decisions. It is according to our convictions of belief and disbelief that we make our decisions. If we believe in a God creator and we acknowledge this God, then all our decisions have to be in concordance with this belief.
Those who do not happen to believe choose whatever decisions they see fit according to their own disbelief. However, it is the final end, our real and final destination in life, and the farthest end possible, that decides the mode and the target of decision making.
If we know that we have to travel to London, for example, then our target is clear. This target decides the how we should go about it. But if we do not know where we are going, then we are at complete loss and do not know what to do. We might stay where we are, it is easier and cheaper. But the aim itself puts us on the right track and makes us take the right decision of where to go and how to go about it.
Life offers us many destinations and we have to choose, make up our minds and take the final decision. Then we must act according to our own choice and make our own journey towards our own self-appointed destination.
Our final harbour in life, our final destination, all our decisions must be congrent with it.
