How To Fix Intimacy Problems In A Marriage Common Causes You Probably Didn't Expect

If you are faced with a partner who does not want to be intimate with you, it can feel like your world is falling apart. Especially if you know that there are no medical problems surrounding this issue. Understandably one of the first things that people assume when faced with the dilemma, how to fix intimacy problems in a marriage, is that their partner no longer fancies them, or that they have found someone else. However research has proved that nine times out of ten this is truly not the case.

One of the main causes of lack of intimacy between couples is a change in the relationship dynamic. For example, when you first got together with your partner, it was probably just the two of you. You made time for each other and life was exiting. However after a few years, you may well have introduced children into the family, and possibly a change of job for one or both of you. Suddenly there are not enough hours in the day, life becomes routine and suddenly sex becomes less frequent. One of the ways that you can get your love life back on track is to tell your partner that you want to spend some quality time with them. Arrange for a baby sitter maybe once or twice a month and go out to your favourite restaurant that you used to go to, or if money is an issue, then suggest a night in with an old movie and a box of popcorn. Whatever you do, it is important to make sure that this time spent together is quality time. Once you two start having fun again then intimacy will follow.

Another cause of intimacy problems in marriage is stress. It may well be that your partner has had an increase in workload, or that they are worried about the safety of their job and therefore the effect it will have on the family, not to mention the money worries that are attached to this scenario. If you believe that your partner could be stressed then maybe sit down with them after the kids have gone to bed, and talk to them about their fears and worries. Offer your support to them, and above all listen to them. Stress can be relieved simply by sharing it with someone else, as a problem shared is a problem halved. This in turn will start to relax your partner and intimacy between you will return.

If you feel that your partner is still distant towards you sexually then it just might be that your partner is angry or upset. They may not show it on the outside, but this can manifest itself in a lack of libido on their part. It may well be an old argument that never got resolved, or it could be something more deep rooted. If you suspect that this is the case then you have to resolve this issue before any possible sexual reconciliation takes place. Once the issue has been resolved, their trust in you will be restored and you may well have your old partner back again.
