Senior Tour Make Far East Connections

The Senior Tour and WSM have brought a new plan to the tour with ISPS in Japan to help bring more strength. The idea is to make a close tie to the far east.

There will be a one year initial partnership between the Senior Tour, WSM Sponsorship and ISPS. By doing this it will help to deliver a new tournament in Thailand. Hopefully more tournaments will escalate from this such as Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters and the Benhavis Senior Masters.

Dr Handa founded the ISPS and is very keen on charitable causes. He has dealt with the Japanese Senior Tour and is chairman of the USLPGA Women's Senior Golf Association. He is also honorary patron of the international Blind golf association and founder of the Japanese Blind golf association. He is extremely high up in the world of golf and the amount of charity work which he does it outstanding.

An advisory board has been made to give advise for the European Senior Tour events in the Far East. One of the main agreements is that the board work with recently formed European Tour Players Foundation on charitable issues. The idea is gain as much funding as possible and make people aware of the International Blind Golf Association.

Commenting on the new agreement, Dr Handa said: "We are delighted to be working alongside the European Senior Tour and we are very grateful to WSM for bringing our two organisations together. The legendary golfers currently playing on the Senior Tour such as Ian Woosnam and Sam Torrance will help us to further raise awareness for the very worthy cause of Blind Golf."

Andrew White, Chief Executive of WSM Sponsorship, said: "This really is a milestone for us. We have been working with the Senior Tour, providing events for ten years now and Senior golf is an important part of our business. This arrangement helps to cement our relationship with the Senior Tour and WSM's presence on the advisory board will help achieve more events for the European Senior Tour in Asia and the rest of the world moving forward."

Charlie Perring, Deputy Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, said: "We are delighted to enter into this new partnership with our long-term promoters, WSM Sponsorship and The Handa Corporation.

"Dr Handa is one of the world's leading philanthropists and is a committed supporter of charitable causes in general, and specifically the Blind Golf Association. We value his assistance and advice as we continue to consolidate a number of our key events on the Senior Tour and to break new ground in Asia."
