Eric Moore arrived on the scene at Gillette Stadium Friday, probably $25,000 poorer but happy to be back in the NFL.

"I'm just happy for the opportunity to be back in the league and to have the chance to play again," said the 6-foot-4, 268-pound defensive end from Pahokee, Fla., via the United Football League.

With the UFL's second season concluded, Moore apparently paid the $25,000 buyout (reduced from $150,000 by the league because no one wanted to pay that much) to get out of his UFL contract with the Florida Tuskers and return to the NFL, where to buy NFL Jerseys? maybe ujersy is a good choice.

"I really can't tell you actually what's going on, because I don't know, really," he said. "That's up to my agent. Basically everybody's trying to find out what's going on with that situation."

The Patriots made a number of moves this week as their preparation for Monday night's game against the New York Jets (8:30 p.m.; ESPN, Ch. 5) wound down, including the placement of guard Stephen Neal on injured reserve and the re-signing of running back Thomas Clayton on Thursday, and the release of linebacker Pierre Woods and the signing of Moore on Friday.

Moore, 29, was originally a sixth-round pick by the New York Giants in 2005, also spending time with the New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams through the 2008 season. He played in 29 NFL games with 20 career tackles (15 solo hits) and two sacks, as well as seven special-teams tackles.

The Orlando-based Tuskers played the Las Vegas Locomotives in the UFL championship game a week ago, and Moore was credited with one tackle and one assist. He said it shouldn't take too much time for him to be ready to contribute to his new team.

"In the UFL, we got a lot of reps," he said. "A lot of guys were hurt and it was the same size roster like you have in the NFL, 53 players, so you would have the opportunity to play and practice and do a lot of different things, if you want to buy San Francisco 49ersJerseys, go to ujersy."

Speaking in front of a blue-painted steel temporary locker (the Patriots have run out of the mahogany lockers because they have so many injured players still occupying them), Moore said that even though he may be a bit small for an NFL defensive end, that's where he's penciled in for the time being.
