Medications For Attention Deficit - Safer And More Effective Solutions To Protect Your Child

Have you noticed the word 'protect' in the title? I chose it deliberately because I firmly believe that we need to protect our children from the nasty consequences of medications for attention deficit disorder. I am not thinking here of the medical side effects although they are bad enough. I am more concerned about the social and ethical implications and the risks of getting into toxic company while on these drugs.

In spite of all the assurances from the pharmaceutical companies about the overall safety of these meds, there are still worrying facts and statistics which we cannot brush under the carpet.

I have just read a report about a school in Indiana which has over 3,000 students. One reliable source in that school has stated that there are at least 60% of the student body who are selling or buying Adderall.

This drug is one of the psychostimulants for ADHD and is similar to Ritalin and Concerta. But Adderall has reached the top of the league as a study aid and also for getting high. It seems to be enormously popular. I know that it sells for about $15 a tablet.

While it is true that an ADHD child or teenager may not abuse his or her medications for attention deficit, the chances of them getting into drug dealing is quite high, if this statistic from Indiana is anything to go by.

As a stimulant, Adderall is a great study aid and is widely used to prepare for exams so that students can stay up all night. There is some alarm about this misuse but nobody seems to be able to do anything about it. Needless to say, such use of Adderall for illegal purposes without a doctor's prescription is a felony and could lead to a conviction in most states. We need to protect our children from that sort of toxic exposure.

Apart from these social and ethical considerations, there is also some concern now about the fact that after two or three years, the effects of these amphetamine like drugs used on ADHD children will actually begin to wear off. That is another strong reason to look at an alternative.

Unfortunately, many people are ignorant or scornful about homeopathic medicine. The fact of the matter is that this type of remedy of ADHD is ideal. It is perfect in many ways in that it takes a holistic approach and will restore calm and mood balance without any nasty side effects. We can be absolutely certain that it will never be requested as a recreational drug at school or anywhere else. Your child will therefore be protected from the drug scene.

Now that you know that you can protect your child from shady 'pharming' in the schoolyard, why not find out about the alternative medications for attention deficit.
