You always know when its coming up to Halloween in my house as a few weeks beforehand the requests for Halloween Coloring Pages to work on begins. It's always a good sign as I love to see the kids getting a real buzz out of the holidays. These milestones will be a great source of memories for me when I am old and grey and hopefully bouncing their kids on my knee.
My kids tear into the pictures with a passion, sometimes using paints or gel pens but usually the old trusty crayons and coloring pencils.
They pretend to run around scared of the ghosts, ghouls, witches, pumpkins, zombies, skeletons, cauldrons etc that are all the usual hallmarks of Halloween Coloring Pages.
Once done I get the safety scissors out and they cut out their pages and start looking for places around the house to put them up. Usually it is the foyer that gets most of them. As the trick or treaters come to our door you can be sure they will be impressed with the decorations once the front door is opened.
Last years my kids did several dozen pumpkins and made me a huge daisy chain to go along the wall. You couldn't help but be impressed!
To finish with, you can be sure they will want to make some masks to wear after being inspired by the coloring pages. Often I can just print out the pages a bit bigger, add some holes for a bit of string and they make a pretty good mask. It's up to the kids then to add all the fake blood, warts, moles and generally make them up to be as gruesome as they can. If you have any glow in the dark markers or facepaint this is the best time of year to get the most use out of them believe me!
