Parry pipes up with Paris triumph

Yorkshireman John Parry, former Walker Cup team-mate of Rory McIlroy - and in his rookie year on the European Tour, landed the Vivendi Cup in Paris and a two-year exemption.

The Ping professional from Knaresborough had twice in the last month threatened to win but fell back at the weekend (Ping Karsten B60 Putter ), but he finally secured success with a 17-under par total - two shots ahead of Swede Johan Edfors, thanks to a final round 70 in cold and damp conditions at Golf de Joyenval.

Parry relied Ping S-56 irons, Ping Tour-S wedges and a Ping Scottsdale Half Pipe putteras well as the brand's G15 driver and 3-wood and an i15 20-degree hybrid. Ping's Jose Manuel Lara also won with the new Scottsdale putter, borrowed from Miguel Angel Jimenez in Austria last week.

Parry entered the event needing a high PING G10 Fairway Woodfinish to avoid a trip to the Tour qualifying school, following a 9th place and 20th at the Austrian Open, where he held the lead after two rounds.

The 23-year-old, who won 169,000, now has his sights set on qualifying for the Race to Dubai Championship in which he currently ranks 66th - six places out of contention. However, he has also secured a place in the HSBC event in China in November.

Moreover, the Ping Rapture fairway wood maximizes the lightweight and high strength properties of titanium to create a forgiving and reliable option for golfers of all abilities. A machined 6-4 titanium face increases ball speed for added performance.

Features:

1. A thin, fully-machines 6-4 titanium face provides consistent performance and stability at impact

2. A large weight pad positioned directly beneath the Center of Gravity (CG) produces higher initial launch trajectory and low spin for longer, straighter carry distance
