From holiday home tours to outdoor ice skating winter activities can be found all across the hill country for everyone of any age. Here are a few of the fun winter happenings in your area.
If you haven't already been down to Johnson City to see the famous light displays, head down there on December 11 and 18th to visit the LBJ boyhood home. From 6pm to 9pm the LBJ boyhood home will be open for visitors to see how the Johnson family would have celebrated and decorated during the holidays in the 1920's. Afterwards head over to the courthouse for a carriage ride with your family and loved ones. On Friday's and Saturday's from 6pm to 11pm enjoy a twenty minute carriage ride around the square in a beautifully decorated ornate carriage. If you haven't already been to the Blanco Market Days, be sure to go this weekend for their highly anticipated Winter Market Day on December 11th. Bring the kids along to watch the 2010 Blanco Christmas Parade starting at 10:00am. Are you ready to sing Christmas carols? On December 12th at 6pm the First Baptist Church will be gathering for their annual Christmas Choir Performance. If you happen to be in Bandera on December 11th, jump in the wagon for the annual Singing in the Saddle. Starting at 3pm, meet over at the Longhorn Saloon to ride along in the wagon singing carols down the Christmas Trail. Awaiting you at the end of the trail will be the chuck wagon where hot cocoa and cookies will be served.
From December 4 through the 14th in Comfort, the Comfort Crockery will be hosting "An Old Work Christmas in the 1879". Artists and artisans from across the Texas hill country will be featuring the style of art reminiscent of the artists and artisans of Europe during the Christmas holidays in 1879. In Fredericksburg the Eisbahn Outdoor Ice Skating Rink will be open all month long during December. Operating hours are Monday through Thursday from 4pm to 8pm, Friday through Saturday from 10am to 10pm, and Sunday 1pm to 8pm.
If driving around and marveling in the spectacular Christmas light displays is your favorite thing, be sure to check out the Texas Hill Country Regional Christmas Light Trail.
