World Cup 2010 Participating Countries

The qualification draw for the World Cup 2010 participating countries was started on November 25, 2007 held in Durban, South Africa. The complete qualification process was done on November 18, 2009 after different FIFA qualifying confederations and associations held the play-offs categorized by continents. These qualifying confederations and associations are the basis of which teams will be the World Cup 2010 participating countries.

World Cup 2010 Participating Countries There were four slots given to the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) which were filled by Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Argentina. While the Confederation of North, Central American & Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) has 35 national teams competing for three slots given by FIFA, the qualified teams narrowed down to USA, Honduras, and Mexico. Uruguay has bagged its fourth slot for the CONCACAF-CONMEBOL play-offs with Costa Rica.

For the continental Asia, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had 43 countries joining the qualification games. At the end of the AFC play offs, FIFA gave four slots to fill by AFC teams. The four qualified countries were Korea DPR, Korea Republic, Japan, and Australia (formerly included from the OFC).

The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) had New Zealand to match against the AFC runner up in order to bag the fifth place for the World Cup 2010. New Zealand won over Bahrain and claimed the fifth country from the OFC-AFC playoff to join the World Cup 2010.

Five slots were given by FIFA aside the South Africa slot through the Confederation of African Football. South Africa, being the host, was automatically qualified for the World Cup 2010. There were 53 nations that competed for qualifications. Cameroon, Algeria, Ghana, Cote D'Ivoine, and Nigeria were all qualified to play along with some of the World Cup 2010 participating countries.

As for the qualifying round of FIFA for European nations, the UEFA was given 13 slots to fill the list of World Cup 2010 participating countries. The 13 teams to complete the list are Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland.

All 32 World Cup 2010 participating countries will be playing against each other for the FIFA World Cup championship.
