On arrival in Cairo, head to the Plateau of Giza for the chance to see the stunning Great Pyramids of Giza and mystical Sphinx. The last remaining wonders of the ancient world, the Pyramids are said to be constructed from millions of blocks of limestone and have stood on this site for nearly 5000 years. Your experience will be enhanced by your expert guide who will provide a fascinating insight to the history of this magical site.
Whilst admiring these ancient treasures, look out for the bewitching figure of Great Sphinx. Carved from a single block of limestone, the half-human, half-lion statue stands guard over the tombs. After lunch in Cairo, continue to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, home to the worlds finest collection of Egyptian artefacts. The highlight is undoubtedly the golden haul from the Tomb of Tutankhamun including the world famous solid gold funerary mask. Also, look out for the huge statues of the pharaohs and the gods they worshipped, scrolls of ancient papyrus, coffins inlaid with semi-precious stones and ancient mummified remains.
