Don't Get Locked Out Of Your Home Make Sure You Have A Spare Key

At some stage it has happened to us all, we have been locked out of our homes. It's simple really, you're in a rush and somehow you leave your front door keys on the table and just walk out without realizing what you done.

It's not until later when arriving home you cannot believe that you have unfortunately left your house keys on the kitchen table. It is quite irritating being stranded in your garden until help arrives. This has actually happened to me a number of times and it can ruin your plans for the day or the evening.

There are a number of precautions that you can take in order to minimize this happening. Let's be honest it's probably happened everybody at some stage. The first thing you should do is get copies of your keys, yes I know it's obvious that you would be surprised at how many people put this on the long finger and never actually do this. These copies should be given to friends, family or neighbours. It's always great to have a backup as they are not expensive to get done.

Leaving a key with a neighbour is probably the first thing you should do because of the convenience. If you leave a key with a family member you can sometimes be difficult if they do not live in your locality. Always make sure that every person in the house has a copy of the key. If you live alone and you find your neighbours are not friendly make sure that you leave a spare copy of your key with a friend. The last thing you want to do is to start breaking windows to gain access to your home so make sure you take action and do one of the above.

You can also leave a spare copy of your key in your place of work or hide in your car somewhere. If the inevitable happens and you find yourself locked out you may need to call on the services of a locksmith. I'm no expert on this but I guess that they will require some type of ID is the come to your home they are simply not going to open the door and let you in without knowing that this is actually your place of residence.
