How To Get Your Office Summer Party Right

Office summer parties present a nice opportunity for colleagues, bosses - subordinates, and all other members of the staff to get to know each other. It is one occasion where one can let one's hair down in an office related event and get away with it. Indeed, corporate summer parties have come a long way from being a formal event where everyone is suited up and nothing is shared among co-workers other than just a few pleasantries. Being set outdoors, the parties include a host of activities that infuse a feeling of camaraderie among the staff. It has been established that such parties form an essential part of employee satisfaction and thus result in increased employee productivity.

If you have been asked to organize such a party, then you have an opportunity to display your organizational skills to the people who matter. If you organize a great summer party, you can expect a few perks coming your way. If it doesn't go well though, not only will your bosses be disappointed, but even your colleagues will keep reminding you of your summer debacle in subtle ways. So what does it take to organize a memorable office summer party? There are many things, but the most important thing is planning. If you get the planning right, half of your work is done.

How To Get Your Office Summer Party Right

When one thinks of corporate summer parties, one visualizes sunny weather, barbeques, sports of all sorts and people nursing cool drinks. Sometimes even families are invited to add to the sense of belonging to the organization. However, weather is like a wily mistress who can cheat you at any instant and without any warning. So it is best to have a Plan B and a Plan C. Suppose, unfortunately it starts raining heavily on the day the party is to be held, you should have some contingency plan that allows you to host the party indoors.

Also, you should be aware about the popular sport among your colleagues, their common likes and dislikes and other such details to ensure everyone enjoys the party. Another important thing that is usually overlooked is that as an organizer, your work is not over until the party is over. An organizer should be the life of the party, encouraging people to participate in activities, taking care that all the guests are well taken care of and be there in case something goes wrong. Of course, in order for others to enjoy the party, you should be able to enjoy it yourself; so don't move around with slacked shoulders and a frown on the forehead, have a ball and make others have a gala time.
