Time To Buy A Used Focus

With the third generation Ford Focus due to hit dealerships in early 2011 now is a good time to buy a used Focus. Whenever an updated version of a running model is released the current model always loses some of its residual value, there also tends to be a flood of the outgoing model in the used car market.

Ford has been producing the Focus since 1998; it replaced the ever green Ford Escort as Fords small-medium family car. The 2012 Ford Focus is the first Global model; Ford will release the same model throughout the world. Historically Ford would have different models for each country; tailoring models to the countries common needs, the new Focus will be available in all Ford markets.

The ECOnetic name will carry over from the previous generation Focus and used in the third generation too, the new ECOnetic model has some additional features compared to its predecessor. Technology such as Auto-Start-Stop system, Smart Regenerative Charging, Eco mode and Low Tension FEAD (Front End Accessory Drive) help the ECOnetic model achieve 74.2mpg and emit only 99g/km.

If you are after a bargain and looking for a second generation Focus then you will be glad to know that it comes with a choice of five petrol engines and three diesel engines. The petrol range includes a 1.6 litre with 98bhp or 114bhp (only in Zetec S trim), a 123bhp 1.8 litre, a 143bhp 2.0 litre and the 222bhp 2.5 litre in the hot ST. The diesel line-up includes two 1.6 litre engines, with 89bhp or 108bhp, and a 2.o litre model with 134bhp.
