Sailing Lessons

Are you thinking about booking a chartered yacht holiday at some point in the future? If you are then why not consider booking a few sailing lessons beforehand. Although most yacht charters provide a crew that will sail the vessel for you, wouldn't it be great to also have a go yourself.

However, with so many places now offering sailing lessons, how can you determine which one will be the best for you. Below we look at some of the things you should be taking into consideration in order to get good quality lessons.

1. When you are searching for sailing lessons you should make a list of several sailing schools that you want to consider and then carry out a little research into each one. As you do make a list of the pros and cons to using each one and from this then produce a shortlist of ones you want to learn more about.

2. After creating your shortlist now you must arrange to visit each school to get a feel for them and the staff that will be providing you with your lessons. This way you are ensuring that you not only find a school that understands how to help those who have never sailed before but you will be comfortable being instructed by.

3.During your visit don't forget to ask them questions that are relevant to why you wish to learn how to sail. The questions that you ask should not only pertain to the kind of training programs that they run but how long they last for. Of course this is when you should be also finding out what accreditation they have in relation to certain regulatory bodies and associations. In the UK look for those schools that have the necessary accreditation from the RYA (Royal Yacht Association).
